Poster Analysis - Paranormal Activity

Colour of background: The use of the colour black in the background of the poster, illustrates the dark forces in which the movie is promised to screen. The plainness of the poster, and the lack of colour, non verbally describes the hidden occurrences that will be made known to its viewers later on.
Title of film :The colour of the text is a very bold /bright RED in comparison to the rest of the poster, the bright read text stands out majorly, its more eye catching and would attract the viewer immediately.  The number 2 is coloured in white. This stands out in contrast with the red writing. The two also reminds the target audience that the film is a continuation of the previous  production.
White Text: In contrast with the block dark background the white text makes the words more visible and easier to comprehend .  As the background has no definition the text is automatically eye catching. Its layout is very scattered and positioned in the centre of the poster, contributes to the effortless viewing of the image.
Main Image: The main image is different from other film posters as normally the film poster would include a separate image form the film it is linked to. However this poster in particular contains a still image from the film (Paranormal Activity2). The image contains a few props and two characters from the film. The still image from the film is simply to intrigue the audience as some may anticipate reasons for which a dog and a young child would be in a dark room with a ray of light beaming from behind a door with the dog barking towards it. In result this  may leave the target audience with the feeling of anxiousness as they are fascinated with what lies behind the door.
Baby Image: The image of the baby creates a feel of innocence. It illustrates the fact that something un-natural will try to attack or get in the way of those who are less aware of their surroundings .

Release Date:    the release date is positioned directly at the bottom of the poster. The font is in bold CAPITALS and is also coloured in white resembling the text at the very top of the poster. Its release date is very close to Halloween which holds connotations of it being that typical “Halloween Horror” that you have to see even though you know your heat cannot take it.
Website :The name of the website is positioned just above the release date, this simply shows a simple source of information where viewers of the poster can boost their knowledge of the film. The logo for the company and website are both coloured in blue shows the link between the two sources of information.
