Film Poster

As a group we had to think about what our poster is going to look like. So we decided to research on other supernatural horror film posters.

The film poster for 'Rite' is a black background with a man inside a cross. the font for the film title also has a cross for the letter 't'. This shows the audience that this film has something to do with religion and Christianity in particular. Their is red around the image of the cross which connotes to us death and is very common in horror films. The sharpness and texture of the mans face allowed us to look at the picture and think about what is going on and wether the man will be a good person or bad.We looked at this poster and like the idea of the cross used in the poster and maybe we could have used the book in a similar way.

 'Methodic' film poster has colours of red and black. The red shows the danger and death in the film while the face of the boy in the mask shows how scary the film will be. The font and the background colors and style appealed to us and made this poster want the audience to want to watch this film. The knife and the jokers mask is a massive juxtaposition because usually jokers mask are comedic and fun, whereas the blood splattered on the mask shows that this film will be a slasher film. Since we are not doing a slasher but we are doing a supernatural film it made us look at more posters.

The last exorcism has the use of the red font colours contrasts with the white background and the blood on the young girl. The tag line has been clearly shown and the credits of the producers and directors are also there.

We feel that Malaysian supernatural film poster for 'Possessed' gives us inspiration for how we want our film poster to be like. The use of the two twins in the poster with the stone in their skin. This gives us ideas to use the book into the poster.


All of these posters have given us hints and tips towards our poster which will use some of these features like the different font types and the colors which will connote the fact that it's a horror film.
